Elements made by metal additive manufacturing have mechanical properties identical to those achieved by casting or machine tooling.
Freedom of design
With additive manufacturing, metal powders are sintered using a laser beam layer upon layer. The result is a complete freedom of design in terms of shapes, as there is no need to comply with toolpaths.
Post processing
Elements produced via additive manufacturing can be subjected to post-processing operations in the same way as a part machined from solid: heat treatment, hip, threading, reaming, welding, etc.
